About me

Hello! I am Dave Hamilton, a writer, tutor and single Dad to two brilliant sons. I live in the Southwest of England, arguably the best place in the world!

I have published 6 books which have sold over 80,000 copies worldwide and have been translated into five different languages.

I started writing professionally in 2007 when my first book the Self-Sufficientish Bible was commissioned.  Very soon afterwards I moved into freelance journalism. Since written more than 500,000 words in columns, magazine features, book reviews, walks, recipes, guides and biographies.

I cover a wide subject base to count for my eclectic and varied interests. These include UK travel, ancient history, food, cycling, geology, exploration, walking, foraging and the natural world. Amongst others I am a regular contributor to Walk magazine, the magazine for the Ramblers association and I regularly contribute to BBC Wildlife and BBC Countryfile.

If you would like me to write for you I am available for commission on any of the subjects above. I am also always keen to hear offers on anything you think might interest me!

In addition to writing I love to teach and am available for classes, talks and workshops (but I draw the line at after dinner speaking!) Email here
